Wand System Site Software
XL-Wands and Radio Wands requite a PC on site and software to upload the data. There are 2 programs and a token file.
One program empties the XL Unloader, the other program uploads data to Nexus-WebEye and the token file configures the upload program.

Token File
The file that configures the WebEye_Upload program is called “The Token File” and it will be emailed to you separately.
Installation – Quick Start for experienced users
- Download the files,
- Connect and power on your Unloader,
- Run XL-Unloader program. It will search for the Unloader and create its directory structure,
- Hit Configure button, set company name and site name in File Prefix. Set the User name, tick the Enable WebEye check box. Exit Configure screen,
- Press Set Clock, then do a Get Data. Press delete when finished. Top right hand corner, Files In Outbox will show “1” after get data,
- Copy the Token file into C:\EliteData,
- Run the WebEye_Upload_2 program. It will create some folders then empty the outbox by sending files to WebEye.
Installation Problems
- The most common problem is that the user does not have enough priveliges to create folders such as EliteData, and it’s sub folders. This is an I.T. department issue. We cannot help with this. Uers must have read, write, create, delete priveliges for files and folders,
- WebEye_Upload program also requires the same priveliges as it will create a file and folder structure,
- If your network firewall is secure, it may not allow the program to send data to NExus-WebEye. Contact Elite-ID.
- Next most common problem is that the PC does not connect to the Unloader. This will be because the serial port is not configured (ie a USB to Serial device is not setup). Again, this is an I.T. department issue.
- Use the Configure, ‘Auto Find’ option to search for the serial connection when it is fixes.
Installation Instructions In Detail
Download Program Files
- Ideally, create a filder in your PC called “C:\EliteData” This will be created by the programs later if you don’t do it now. Doing it now means you can assign security priveliges to users to it early,
- You must give the user of the computer full priveliges, read, write, delete and create to the C:\EliteData\ folder and all sub-folders,
- Download the programs from the links above. Save to the desktop. Save a backup copy into C:\EliteData\ folder if you have created it.
Setup Unloader
- Connect your XL-Unloader to the computer using the supplied data cable. Note, you may need a USB-Serial adaptor if your PC does not have a 9 Pin D connector for serial data.
- Put the switch in the down position with the label on the box pointing up,
- Connect the supplied plug pack to power. Connect to the unloader. Make sure you have a Red flashing light before proceeding. This is the ready indication,
- Run the XL Unloader program. It will tell you it is the first time it is run. It will search for the serial port the Unloader is connected to,
- If the connection works it will install itself with the correct COM port,
- Go to the CONFIGURE screen,
- On the left hand side in the fil ename prefix, enter your company name and site name. This sets up your file names,
- Below that, enter your user name,
- IMPORTANT tick the WebEye check box on the left hand side – just below the User Name,
- Now close the configure screen, set the clock and press the ‘Get Data’ button. This will download whatever is in the unloader direct to disk,
- Top right hand corner you will see ‘files in outbox 1’ after the get data finishes,
- Allow it to delete the unloader chips.
If The Serial Port Does Not Find the Unloader
- Check you have a red flashing led on the Unloader. If not, check the plug pack is connected and turned on at the point,
- Check the data cable is connected between the PC and the XL-Unloader,
- If a USB device is being used, check it is working (this may be an IT specialist job).
Test The Unloader
- Make sure you have a red flashing light on the Unloader and that the data cable is connected to it and the PC,
- Run the XL-Unloader.exe program,
- Press the “Set Clock” button. Then press “OK” to put the PCs clock into the Unloader. This synchronizes everything,
- Press the “Get Data” button. This will empty the unloader to the PC,
- Press “Delete” when finished,
- You should see “Files In Outbox” in a small information box on the top right hand corner of this program. It will have a number. This is a data file waiting to be sent to WebEye.
If all this has happened as decribed, then all is good, the Unloader is configured.
The Files In Outbox will have a number. This is the number of data files that have not yet been uploaded to WebEye.
Setup WebEye_Upload program
-
You should have received a “WebEye.tkn” file. Save this file to the C:\EliteData folder. That is all you have to do.
Test The WebEye_Upload program
- Run the WebEye Upload_2.exe program,
- If it cannot find the token file it will show an error message,
- If there are any files in outbox they will be transferred and the screen will have messages to show this,
- If files fail to transfer,
- Check that the internet is connected and working,
- Check that the “IT Department” has not locked down the computer such that “HTTP POST to Nexus-WebEye.com” is blocked (ask them this please).
Background Information
Nexus-WebEye cloud database requires that data is uploaded for storage and processing.
The best method is the “WebEye_Upload2” program from Elite-ID. It is automatic.
It is very simple, powerful and can be setup in a number of ways to suit a wide range of users.
WebEye_Upload2 monitors the ‘outbox’ folder in your computer and when it finds a file there, it is uploaded into Nexus-WebEye then archived. This is automatic and quite fast.
The folder that is monitored is called “outbox”. If there is some problem in processing then files are not deleted or moved so that it is “fail safe” as much as possible.
Other Elite-ID programs understand this arrangement and place their data into the correct folder accordingly so that “everything works together”.
All setups are done with a file called “WebEye_Upload.tkn”. This file is mandatory.
This must be located in a folder called “EliteData” .
