Classic Wand Example Usage Scenarios
Classic Wand Usage : XL-Data Wand
Classic Wands are data loggers. These simple and robust data loggers are ideal for precise touch-based staff tracking. Staff touch the logger onto a secure small metal disc called an iButton. The serial number from the disc is date and time logged then used to report attendances.
Guard Tour tracking of security guard patrols is a common use for XL Wands. The iButtons are cheap and wands being robust have an excellent service life.
Another common use is for tracking cleaners is shopping centers. The data is used for staff monitoring, risk management and public liability defence.
An XL-Unloader is later used to synchronize clocks, perform diagnostics and to extract data from wands prior to uploading to the cloud.
Typical Use
Staff collect their XL-Wands at the start of shift.
As they perform their duties, they touch the Wand onto iButtons affixed to strategic locations.
At the end of shift, they touch the Wand onto an XL-Unloader to empty it’s data into the XL-Unloader
Then the wand is put on charge (once per week) for at least 8 hours.
Some time later, the XL-Unloader is connected to a PC, data is extracted then Uploaded to WebEye for reporting.
Classic Wand Usage : Radio Wand
Classic Radio Wands use Voyager radio proximity devices to track staff, and can also use iButtons.
Radio Wands are ideal for non contact proximity staff tracking, but can also read iButtons making them dual purpose.
Typical Use
Staff collect their Radio Wands at the start of shift.
As they perform their duties, Radio Wand receives signals from PipTags and Pulsar devices and records them into memory.
Staff may optionally also touch Radio Wand onto iButtons affixed to strategic locations.
At the end of shift, they touch the Wand onto an XL-Unloader to empty it’s data into the XL-Unloader
Then the wand is put on charge every night for at least 8 hours.
Some time later, the XL-Unloader is connected to a PC, data is extracted then Uploaded to WebEye for reporting.
XL-Unloader – Typical Use
This device has its own computer and memory. It stores 65,535 readings from Wands and is an ideal means to empty Wands. It is self contained and does not need a PC to empty wands.
Not only that, it has its own real time clock. This is then used to update Wands when they are touched onto the ‘Unloader.
In normal use, staff empty their wands by touching them onto ‘Unloaders front panel connector. Since a PC is not required to empty a wand, staff can do this at any time and it unburdens the PC for this. Emptying a wand at the end of shift is really simple and easy.
Many sites demand daily reporting so the PC is used to “Get Data” after which the data is extracted into a file on the hard disk. Then the companion WebEye_Upload program uploads the data to WebEye for storage, analysis and reporting.
